Data will be submitted by participating institutions to Mimas, University of Manchester for processing. The University of Manchester is responsible for compliance with the UK Data Protection Act, and is registered with the ICO as a Data Controller: Registration Number: Z6787610.  Migration of data will be handled via secure FTP transfer.

The scope of the data is, for each graduating student, year of graduation, course title, length of course, type of course, grade achieved, academic department, number of items borrowed from the library, number of visits to the library, and number of logins for e-resource usage.

As per the UK Data Protection Act, the extract sent to Mimas should not include information that identifies, or could be used to identify, a named individual (e.g. their name or a campus network ID).

It is recommended that contributors exclude data from courses that had small numbers of students (e.g. less than 5 students).

The data will support the development of the prototype Library Analytics service being developed as part of the Jisc LAMP project.

Personal Data will be anonymised and protected in accordance to the UK Data Protection Act. It will be stored on the Mimas, University of Manchester servers for the duration of the project plus one year, at which time the data will be disposed.
